I couldn't walk but all I wanted was chocolate
There are moments in life when we find ourselves facing challenges that seem crazy big. Physical pain that restricts movement really dampens the spirit I've found. It's times like these where simple pleasures of life can feel distant, yet they hold the power to uplift and heal if we can access them.
Imagine a time when you couldn't move without pain, when every step felt like a mountain to climb. The pain can be overwhelming, and in those moments, all you might crave is comfort. This was me after prolapsing my disc AGAIN, after undergoing surgery for a severe disc prolapse. The reason my disc prolapsed was driven (in my opinion) by severe post party depletion, but that's a story for another day.
When I was in the pits of pain and uncertainty, not knowing if my body would ever allow me to live comfortably again, I had a MAJOR craving for chocolate. Chocolate has long been associated with feelings of happiness and indulgence, acting as a balm for the soul. Unfortunately, the chocolate we find ourselves most often consuming today, is filled with all sorts of crap that hinder rather than help the body.
Thankfully, the relationship I've developed with my very sensitive body over the years allows me to hear what it desires. I wanted dark chocolate, but darker than anything I could find on supermarket shelves, and actually, I wanted to drink it. I think a dormant memory of my mum giving my sisters and I real cacao when we were kids, drove my search subconsciously. I found myself drawn towards a block of 100% cacao paste, and that is where SG all began.
I began SG Cacao understanding the therapeutic qualities of cacao. It's a delicious, functional, clean and easy to use cacao is designed to provide not just a delightful taste but also a boost of minerals and antioxidants that can support your well-being. When you sip on our cacao, you are not just enjoying a beverage; you are nurturing your body and your spirit will thank you for that. Our body is the vessel that carries us through life. We have a responsibility to nurture it, to be grateful for everything it does for us, and something as simple as a hot mug of cacao can be the catalyst for a renewed view on how sacred our meat suit is.
Chocolate, especially in its purest form, has been celebrated for its ability to elevate mood and provide comfort. The rich, deep flavors of cacao can transport you to a place of warmth and joy, even in the toughest of times. It’s a reminder that self-care can come in many forms, and sometimes, it’s as simple as sitting with a plant that grew perfectly to support us - how divine.
Whether you are seeking solace from physical discomfort or simply looking for a moment of joy in your day, cacao can be a source of nourishment and comfort. Embrace the healing power of chocolate, and let it remind you that even in moments of pain, there is decadence to be found.
So, the next time you find yourself in need of a little comfort, consider reaching for a cup of cacao. Let it be a reminder that you are not alone in your struggles, and that sometimes, the simplest pleasures can bring the greatest relief.
